No year is ever complete without Apple releasing their latest and greatest—something we’ve been spoiled for more than a decade in every Apple event that has transpired yearly since they first broke ground and introduced to us the first-ever iPhone in early January of 2007.
Right now, Apple fans are giddy in anticipation as the September 2022 launch is imminent, slated to happen on September 7. As tech pundits create a buzz by speculating what breakthrough feature the tech fruit company will remove, replace, or add, we’ve sleuthed the entire Internet finding some hints here and there on what we may expect on the upcoming line of flagship smartphone devices from our beloved gadget maker.
Let’s get the lowdown on what we may see come September 7. Continue reading to find out more.
iPhone 14 Price
We’ve come to understand that Apple has a specific way of pricing their wares. As of now, the cheapest model, iPhone 13 Mini is priced at $699 (the smallest storage option at 128 GB). Meanwhile, the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max (all base models at 128 GB) are priced at $799, $999, and $1,099 respectively.
Tech analysts are saying that there’s a chance Apple might continue with this price structure, only this time sans the iPhone 13 mini. In fact, many sources point to the iPhone 14 starting at $799 for the base price of its model. Others argue that the more premium models, iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro will be a hundred dollars more. Tech news sites have hinted that the latter models may go between $1,099 and $1,199. This pricing scheme makes sense as it is consistently echoed which may likely be the case for the 2022 line-up.
Design Leaks About iPhone 14
We know how eager you are to hear about what the latest iPhone iteration might look like. Will it still have the iconic notch? How many camera pixels will the iPhone 14 get? Are they going to introduce a new hardware feature? Let’s look at the supposed design changes and improvements one by one.
No-notch display and NewFace ID Hardware Design Implementation
It was earlier noted by a few tech analysts that Apple’s distinctive notch might be tweaked, resulting in either a hole-punch style similar to many Android phones released in the past 5 years. However, some sources say that Apple is working on a design that has both the pill-shaped cutout and circular cutout, most likely to be used for its useful face detection feature.
Flat-Edged Design We’ve Known to Love
It seems that the iPhone 14 lineup will still echo the design cues from its predecessor. Some leaked sources claim that the latest iPhone models will have a thicker chassis without any rear camera bump and round volume buttons.
However, other leaks say that there will be no design changes at all and it may still feature the same aesthetic already seen in the iPhone 13 models. They are also arguing that the iPhone lineup will have the same camera bump and standard notch seen from the previous flagship series.
Size Options — No Mini Version on the Horizon
It seems that Apple may do away with its mini variant as leaks point out that Apple ditched the 5.4 display. What we’ll see instead are two size variants: the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. In this day and age, size still remains king.
Colors
Now that we’re seeing variety, that should still remain the case for iPhones. Anonymous tips surrounding the colorway variants lead to these possible shades for this year’s iPhones: black, white, blue, red, purple, graphite, gold, silver, and purple.
Imaging/Camera
We still might see two sensors on the base model, and 3 sensors on the Pro model. Most sources say that there’s a sizable jump to 48 megapixels for the main camera on the 14 Pro while it is expected that 8K video recording would be available.
RAM, Processor, and Storage
The A16 Bionic chip to rule the models seems imminent. Meanwhile, 6 GB should be the expected RAM size with the base storage model pegged at 128 GB.
